Fillings and crowns
Larch & Finch Pediatric Dentistry repairs cavities in children in Seattle, Washington, with fillings and crowns.
Repairs for cavities, explained to your child in their own words before anything begins.
Overview
A filling repairs a small cavity, and a crown covers a tooth that has lost more of its structure. Both are done in the office, and both start with a numbing gel and a small, gentle injection.
For children who need extra help to relax, we offer nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, when the dentist thinks it is a good fit. We talk it through with you first.
How it works
- The dentist shows you the cavity and explains the choices
- We numb the area and wait until your child cannot feel it
- The dentist repairs the tooth while we narrate each step
- We rinse, check the bite and go over what to expect for the rest of the day
Frequently asked questions
Why fix a cavity in a baby tooth?
A baby tooth that hurts or becomes infected can make eating and sleeping hard, and some baby teeth stay in until age 12. The dentist tells you which cavities need repair now and which we can watch.
